The PPEdu has developed teaching and research activities at the stricto sensu graduate level, producing masters and doctors as qualified professionals for the exercise of science, teaching, and other activities inherent to education in school situations and at different levels and modalities.

Themes highlighted include those such as teacher training (initial, continued, and in-service), basic education curriculum, history and philosophy of education, school culture, history of educational institutions, didactic and pedagogical aspects, people with special educational needs, inclusive education, learning and human development at school, educational motivation, educational technologies, learning and psychoeducational assessment, reader training, literacy, teaching in early childhood education and early years, and basic education policies and management.

PPEdu aims to produce and transfer knowledge with and for School Education and different modes of teaching, in order to enhance the improvement of educational processes and human formation.
